We can provide a package to help you find and photograph these wondeful places. Whether you want to photograph orangutans, birds, macro flower photography or cultural photos, we can help organise your trip.
We believe photography is a great way to raise awareness about the rainforest and Sumatra's critically endagered animals.

ITINERARY
TWO DAY

The two day trekking option is the most popular option. This trek allows you to experience the jungle and enjoy one night camping in the Gunung Leuser National Park.

Get trekking
Your experienced guide will meet you at your hotel at 08.30am to brief you on your trek and you will set off by 09.00am.
Your trek will start just on the edge of Bukit Lawang as you go uphill through the plantations and finally entering the rainforest.
During the first few hours you will have a very high chance of seeing semi-wild and wild orangutans.
You will continue trekking through the rainforest with some up and down hill walking. You will pass by small creeks with crystal clear water where you might spot other wildlife such as monitor lizards and fish.
After a couple of hours of walking, you will stop and your guide will prepare you a fresh-fruit platter. Take this opportunity to rehydrate and sit back and relax while listening to the sounds of the cicadas and black gibbons calling in the jungle.
You will then continue your trek deeper into the jungle, where your guide can point out various plant species and medicinal plants. and you can learn more about this ecosystem of the Gunung Leuser national park.
By 3.30pm you will arrive at your campsite based close to a clear river, perfect to take a swim and refresh your body.

Returning to Bukit Lawang
The next day you will wake with the sun shining through the trees and the sound of birds calling. The campsite area offers the chance to see hornbills and other birds, as well as monitor lizards and butterfies.
Your chef will prepare you hot coffee or tea with breakfast. After breakfast you will get the chance to visit a beautiful waterfall, where you can relax and take part in jungle face painting using natural clay and charcoal.
At 1pm you will head back to camp to enjoy lunch, and finally by 3pm you will be on an exhilirating raft ride back to Bukit Lawang
Even before I was in the country I was receiving endless help by the owners via email about transport/accommodation etc. The tour with orang-utan discovery is incredible, the tour guide was very flexible with when I wanted to stop and what I wanted to do. The trek was a great experience through the untouched, thick jungle (seeing plenty of orang-utans), stopping on the occasion for fruit snacks and a delicious lunch before finishing off rafting down the river right back into the centre of town (less than 5 minute walk from most guest houses/hostels). Not only did I receive an unbeatable tour I also had a helper to contact when ever needed throughout the rest of my time in Sumatra.
Would highly recommend.
